iPhone timelapse video.

I have just downloaded a fantastic app for my iPhone called iTimeLapse (iTunes link). Had to give it a try and had a good opportunity today when I had to change some gobo’s on our Martin Mac 250 Krypton moving heads. Anyway the app works very well indeed with lots of resolution choices, framerate, capture time, the lit goes on. They even give you a selection of free music to add to you video! I have to say the app works well on my 3G so should work well on the 3GS.

New Blamstrain under a new name.

So the wonderfully talented Juho Hietala AKA Blamstrain is working on some new material but under a new name Lusua. Check out the player below for some dark relaxed and funky elecktro stylings.
Lusua – Past Tense by Blamstrain
While we are here you might as well head on over to his website where you can pay what you want for any of his albums! I trust that this will start to stick as more and more musicians realise that artists Like Juho have worked out the best way to make money from their work. By allowing fans to pay the artist directly for their work I believe that they can have a much more successful musical career in the long term.

Bring back the vinyl!
Posted by michael vermaak | Filed under Music
I have always been into my music from an early age and as a child of the 80’s I grew up with lots of technology changes. My first single I received as a present was teenage mutant ninja turtles with T.U.R.T.L.E. POWER on vinyl. It was never going to be top of my list of favorite pieces of music but I do feel that at least the format was a good start. I loved putting a piece of vinyl on the platter and moving the tonearm into the precise position, slowly lowering it and being greeted by the static pop. There was always something wonderful about the process.
Tapes where so big when I was a kid, mainly for recording music off of the radio or copying albums from friends. Headphones had to be loud and would suffer under the strain of mega bass switches that would adorn Walkmans in every teenagers pockets.
Soon came time for me to start buying CDs. I loved the new format. The sound was so clean and the new technology was amazing. Being able to play an album on random was amazing. The one thing that never really happened with CD was portability, Due to this Walkmans still flourished into the late 90’s that was until a friend brought an mp3 player in 2000 that could hold an hours worth of music! We didn’t realise then what whould happen to the mp3 player in the years to come.
Not long after the mp3 player started to show up in friends pockets on a daily basis I started to want to hold the music in my hand again. To be able to appreciate the artwork on a bigger scale than a CD had given me. I started to turn back to vinyl. My first outing took me to some dark minimal beats mainly for experimentation of styles. Then by luck I found a mint copy of the Beatles Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. A record still in my collection today and one I don’t think I will ever sell. My record choice since has been focused on collecting records from the likes of Aphextwin, Squarepusher, Ceephax Acid Crew, Intricate, the list goes on and on. There is still nothing better than flicking through records checking out the artwork on the sleeve and putting the 12″ on the platter. My setup now is the best I have had for listening to my records and I have recently started to enjoy them again. All I can say is that if you have yet to experience some new fresh vinyl on a decent setup then your in for a treat.
My Wife did an etching course
Posted by michael vermaak | Filed under Family
My Wife had decided that she wanted to re-visit college this summer to refresh her artistic side. she hunted around and opted for an etching course as she had enjoyed it when she first went to college. Bellow are just a few of the pieces she did. The first 2 are of our son Bo and the second 2 are of our nephew Joseph.
